The word “liminal”
describes
a transitional

or threshold space
— a place between

what was and
what is becoming.

The Liminal Sessions

exists in the threshold between human artistry and emerging machine intelligence. These works are human-directed creative projects that may involve traditional composition, live musicians, studio recording, editing, songwriting, AI-assisted experimentation, and digital collaboration tools.

Some pieces are almost entirely traditional recordings. Others explore new forms of co-creation between human imagination and artificial intelligence.

The goal is not to replace musicianship, memory, emotion, or craft. The goal is to explore what becomes possible when new tools are placed in the hands of artists who still care deeply about those things.

This project is, in part, an attempt to meet this historical moment creatively rather than retreat from it.

Finally, while not limited to jazz, “The Liminal Sessions” is deeply influenced by the jazz tradition: improvisation, collaboration, risk-taking, and the willingness to step into the unknown.
